Eritrean Candlelight and Memorial Service in Los Angeles –

On Saturday, October 12, 2013,hundreds respective members of the Eritrean community and friends residing in
Los Angeles, Orange, and surrounding counties held a Candlelight and Memorial Vigil
in memory of the Eritrean, as well as African victimswho perished in the Lampedusa Tragedy.
The commemoration began with a moment ofsilence and candlelight vigil in memory of those who perished during the tragic voyage
off the coast of Italy. Respective members of the community expressed their sorrow via
heart – felt messages and speeches. In addition, the participants expressed their deepest
sorrow to the people of Eritrea, appreciated the proactive measure by the government
of Eritrea and extended its condolences to the bereaved families.
